Can’t Tolerate CPAP?

Is your CPAP / APAP getting you down? We hear you! A lot of people just like you wind up with masks that do not fit correctly or with machines they haven’t been properly trained to use.

Many experts consider CPAP/APAP* the gold standard in treating Sleep Apnea, yet many patients cannot tolerate it. The machines come with a lot of supplies, many of which need to be cleaned regularly. Then comes the mask, the one that doesn’t fit comfortably. Is that your biggest issue, too? A mask that does not fit properly can adversely change our facial structure. Who wants to keep waking up at night, all because of a machine that’s supposed to help you sleep and feel less tired?

We would like to help you put an end to the restless sleep cycle.

What If You Don’t Want Your CPAP / APAP To Treat Your Sleep Apnea?

Mandibular Advancing Device (MAD): Oral devices are an effective alternative treatment and can be prescribed by your doctor or sleep specialist. They will likely refer you to a dentist like Dr. Young with special training in making custom or semi-custom devices. It is important to have regular follow-up visits with your doctor and dental provider to help manage any side effects and to make sure the treatment is effective.

The effectiveness of oral appliance therapy is almost equivalent to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. However, there is about a 90% compliance rate with oral appliance therapy compared to about a 50% compliance rate for CPAP therapy.

*CPAP/APAP stand for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure and Automatic Positive Airway Pressure
